LET'S SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!

Soldiers Angels Network:
"May no soldier go unloved. May no soldier walk alone.
May no soldier be forgotten, Until they all come home." |
Soldiers Angels has been interviewed by CNN and other respected news services.
They have been found to be a perfectly legitimate, very worthy cause.
Soldiers Angels
was started by a self-described "ordinary mother" of an
"ordinary young man", deployed in Iraq. (Note: The young soldier has since
honorably completed his mission and has returned home.)
In the summer of 2003, he wrote home expressing his concern that some soldiers
did not receive any mail or support from home. Being a caring and loving mother,
she decided not to allow a situation like that to continue. She contacted a few
friends and extended family to ask if they would write to a soldier or two.
Within a few short months,
Soldiers Angels
went from one mom writing a few extra letters, to an Internet Community with
thousands of "Angels" worldwide!
Soldiers Angels
has since reorganized as a 501 c 3 non-profit so that all donations would be tax
deductible. They currently supports tens of thousands of
American Service Members stationed wherever we raise our nation's flag, and
that number continues to grow daily. They are dedicated to supporting our
military during and after their deployment - and for that reason,
they need our help.
If you would like to make a tax deductible donation, contribute time, Adopt
A Soldier (by committing to writing him/her letters, cards, etc. each week),
this is the Community which will appreciate your services and open you
with open arms!
I hope everyone steps up to this challenge! Why not send me an
Email
with your promise to make a difference? Thank you!
Sincerely, Laura |

POLYCYSTIC KIDNEY DISEASE (PKD) |
At Innocentia
Cattery, we are happy to report that all of our British Shorthair cats have been
genetically tested for Polycystic Kidney Disease. All of our cats are free of the
PKD1 gene mutation. You can now be sure that any kitten you purchase from Innocentia
is free from the PKD disease.
What is Polycystic Kidney Disease? Polycystic Kidney Disease is an inherited kidney
disease that was initially found in Persian cats around 1967. Actual study of this
renal disease did not begin until 1990. This disease causes the kidneys to become
enlarged, and cysts begin to develop. During World War II, the British Shorthair
breed was nearly eliminated due to the bombing of England by the German airforce.
In order to bring back the British Shorthair breed, some breeders used Persian cats
to increase the limited gene pool. As a result, some of the Persian cats that were
used had PKD, and thus the British Shorthair breed was also affected.
